RePlay Theatre uses the model of Playback Theatre. It creates a unique collaboration between the performers and the audience. Someone tells a moment, or a story from their life, it is immediately recreated and given an artistic perspective in drama and music.
In 1975, Playback Theatre was founded in America by Jonathan Fox. It was influenced by the ceremonial theatre in Asia. Storytelling followed by enactment played an important part in the transmission of social culture. Playback Theatre is international.
RePlay Theatre can be used in any community setting; anywhere there are people who have stories to tell.
This theatre form uses ritual, drama and music to encourage social interaction. This rich environment can aid personal growth for everybody who is involved.
